Featuring four survivors, five adventures, and an endless supply of zombies, Left 4 Dead 2 is a first-person shooter that emphasises co-operative gameplay. Within each campaign, players work together to overcome a seemingly insurmountable horde of the undead controlled by an adaptable AI known as the Director, which alters the layout, progression, and pacing of the levels based on the performance of the players.
With five different gameplay modes—including a realism option that drastically increases the difficulty of finding weapons and survival tools—Left 4 Dead 2 also allows players to compete against one another, with one team controlling the Survivors and the other controlling the special classes of Infected.
